Liberal Conservatism is an oxymoron

A group of Conservatives are now promoting themselves as “Liberal Conservatives”. This is a sure sign of how regressive and damaging their agenda for government is likely to be. They are masquerading as Liberals to shore up support from their voting base, who will be horrified by the direction the Conservatives are going to take us.

Liberal Conservatism is an oxymoron. One cannot be a Liberal and a Conservative. That’s like describing yourself as a vegan who eats meat. The two things directly contradict each other.

Liberals reform in the name of injustice, strive for equality under the eyes of law and distribute power widely.

The purpose of Conservatism is to consolidate power and block reform. This is why they are implacably opposed to proportional representation.

Another misleading phrase from modern-day Conservatives is the claim to be “one-nation Tories”; a phrase they attribute to Disraeli, who introduced legislation to improve conditions in factories. But modern Conservatives have already chucked the Withdrawal Agreement Bill’s commitment to protecting employment rights onto the bonfire.

Liberal Conservatism is an old Russian Military tactic called Maskirovka: an attempt to confuse and deceive the enemy. The purpose of Maskirovka is to disguise one’s true intentions from the enemy until it is too late for them to respond.

We can see through what you are doing Cummings.

Слово — не воробей, вылетит — не поймаешь.

(A spoken word is not a sparrow. Once it flies out, you can’t catch it).
